Through the symbols of bread and cup, we observe Communion in memory of the
Lords Supper.
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it
to his disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is my body." Then he took the
cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you.
This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the
forgiveness of sins."
Matthew 26:26-28 NIV
Communion visibly and tangibly portrays the message of God's Good News and
reminds us of Christ's death and resurrection. Though observing the Lord's
Supper does not result in our salvation, it points to the reality of our
salvation, as well as confirming and nourishing us as Christ-followers, when we
celebrate this symbol in genuine faith.
At Grace Church, Communion is open to all who acknowledge Jesus as their
personal Forgiver and Leader. We serve Communion approximately once a month on
a different Sunday each month to give the Grace Kids' leaders a chance to
participate on their days off from teaching.
